As our species drifts through the infinite vastness of space and time, we find ourselves in the midst of a profound existential transition. Like a fetus nearing the end of its gestation period, humanity is on the cusp of a metaphorical rebirth into a new phase of evolution.
This transition is not characterized by some sudden apocalyptic end, but rather by a gradual yet inexorable shift, like the slow dimming of a once-bright star as it ages. We are reluctant passengers on this voyage, lamenting the twilight of the era that defined us while also fearing the unknown horizon towards which we sail.
In times like these, our discourse has devolved from enlightened debate into reactionary dogmatism. Sacred beliefs once used to illuminate now serve as weapons to attack those with differing perspectives. We construct flimsy caricatures of opposing ideologies so that we may assail these straw men, averting our gaze from substantive issues. As we spiral into the depths of ideological entrenchment, the light of reason fades to a dim glimmer.
